(Mexico City = Yonhap News) In Mexico earlier this year, the name of telecommunications conglomerate Carlos Slim suddenly rose to the Twitter real-time trend rankings.

Slim, who once climbed the Forbes World Billionaire Rankings (recently ranked 21st), is a hot topic that gets attention every single word, but this time it became a topic for a slightly different reason.

It was because of the sorrows of fans of the K-pop group BTS (BTS) in Mexico.

The start was a tweet that was posted on BTS' official Twitter account on the 5th.

It was the content that BTS was grateful for when Claro Musica, a Latin American music streaming company, included BTS's'Dynamite' in the list of 'Best Pops of 2020 in English'.

After seeing this, members of the BTS fan club 'ARMY' in Mexico immediately began to summon Slim, who owns Claro Musica, online.

Fans appealed to BTS to host Mexican performances with Slim's capital power.

At the time, the local media Info Bar introduced that Slim suddenly became a hot topic on Twitter and expressed it as "the power of BTS".

What fueled the Mexican Army's anticipation even more was the recent mention of Mexico by BTS leader RM on an internet live broadcast.

Responding to fans' questions on RM's Naver V Live on the 19th, he regretted, "(Mexico) I really want to go. If you call me anywhere in Mexico, I will go."

Mexican fans were enthusiastic about this and found Slim again.

There has been no response from the Slim side so far, but there are still posts on Twitter with the hashtag "Carlos Slim, please bring BTS". One user even said, "Let's keep appealing until Slim are tired of it."

BTS met Mexican fans at KCON in 2017.
