[고고학 국제저널] Antiquity

 
계속 학술지 소개를 이어간다. 

이 학술지는 계량화한 학술지 지표인 impact factor에서 드러나는 것보다는

연구자들 사이에 꽤 유명한 잡지다.

전통도 오래되었다. 

창간호가 1927년에 나왔기 때문이다. 

일년에 네 번 나오는데,

필자가 보기에 여기가 고고학 관련 잡지 중에서는 가장 까다로운 잡지의 하나다. 

까다롭다고 말한 것은 수준 문제도 있지만

이 잡지는 단순히 그런 것만 문제가 아니라 

편집자 취향이 까다로와 

이 양반 호불호가 논문 채택에 큰 영향을 끼친다. 

필자가 보기에 국제학술지 중 

편집자 힘이 가장 막강한 곳이 바로 이 학술지인 듯하다. 

편집자가 학술지 자체에 대한 애정도 강해서 

채택된 논문의 교정과 수정을 마지막까지 편집자 자신이 붙들고 한다. 

한 호마다 일일히 편집자가 Editorial을 내고 논문에 대한 평을 꼼꼼히 붙인다. 

이 잡지는 original article로 채택되기 어려운 짧은 단문의 논문은

Project Gallaery라는 이름으로 따로 묶어 온라인 공개한다.

여기에 출판된 논문들은 종이책에는 실리지 않지만 온라인에는 출판된 것으로 잡힌다. 

흥미로운 짧은 발굴 보고는 Project Gallery로 투고해 보는 것도 괜찮다. 

필자 관련해서는 세 번이 언급되었다.  

필자가 출판한 책 서평과 근착도서 소개에 두 번 실렸고,

유명한 원이엄마 논문이 안동대 임세권, 이은주 두분 교수와 함께 실린 곳도 이곳이다.
