참람하게도 황후 자리를 앉은 후궁, 이를 정면 비판한 한 문제의 신하 원앙

《극좌도》는 국보급 작품이다. 한漢 문제文帝 재위 시절, 중랑中郎 원앙袁盎이 신부인慎夫人이 참람되게도 황후 자리에 앉은 일을 간하는 이야기를 담았다.

당시 문제는 상림上林을 나들이하고 있었는데, 총애하는 후궁 신 부인이 그 옆자리에 앉았다.

신 부인은 황후 자리에 앉음으로써 예의를 어겼다.

이에 원앙이 자리에서 일어나 황제에게 이미 황후가 있는데 후궁이 황후 자리를 넘보는 일은 옳지 않다고 충간했다.

문제와 신부인은 원앙의 직설적인 항의에 다소 불쾌해했지만, 그의 충절을 받아들이고 상을 내렸다.

이 이야기를 소재로 선택한 것은 절람도턱折檻圖와 정확히 같은 맥락으로, 봉건적 윤리를 고취하고 군주의 이익을 보호하기 위해 솔직하게 말하고 목숨을 건 충성스러운 신하를 칭송하기 위함이었다.

《卻坐圖》乃“國寶”級作品，所繪典故是漢文帝時中郎袁盎諫止慎夫人僭坐故事:當時文帝游幸上林,寵妃慎夫人坐在文帝身邊,她的舉動違反了封建社會的禮儀,坐到了應屬王后的位置上。袁盎站出來當面進諫,謂帝既有后,不當容許其妃僭坐后位。文帝和慎夫人對他的直言進諫當時頗為惱怒,但還是接受了,并且給了袁盎一些賞賜以鼓勵忠直。選擇這樣一個故事作為題材,用意與《折檻圖》完全一樣,在于宣傳封建綱常,贊揚敢于直言上諫、冒死維護君王統治利益的忠臣義士。

*The Resigned Concubine* is a national treasure-level work. The story depicted is of Yuan Ang, a court official during the reign of Emperor Wen of Han, advising Lady Shen against her unauthorized seating arrangement. At that time, Emperor Wen was visiting Shanglin Park, and his favorite concubine, Lady Shen, sat beside him. Her actions violated feudal etiquette, as she sat in the position that should belong to the Queen. Yuan Ang stood up and remonstrated, saying that since the Emperor already had a Queen, he should not allow his concubine to usurp the Queen's position. Emperor Wen and Lady Shen were quite annoyed by his frank remonstrance, but they accepted it and rewarded Yuan Ang for his loyalty. The choice of this story as the subject matter is exactly the same as that of *The Broken Threshold*, which aims to promote feudal ethics and praise loyal ministers who dared to speak frankly and risk their lives to protect the interests of the monarch.
