GINKGO TREE IN DAEDEOK-MYEON, GEUMNUENG
Natural Monument No. 300
Location : 51, Joryong-ri, Daedeok-myeon, Gimcheon-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
This ginkgo tree is about 500 years old. It is 28 meters in hight, 125 meters in circumference of the root, and 11.6 meters in width of the middle part of the trunk.
The length of the bough in the east, west, south, and north is 6.8 meters, 12.3 meters, 9.1 meters, and 13.4 meters respectively.
The tree is located at the backyard of Seomgyeseowon Academy. This academy was constructed in 1802 to enshrine several high officials or scholars including Kim Mun-gi.
The ginkgo tree is believed to have been planted after the construction of the academy.
