Via Appia. Regina Viarum
More than 800 kilometres long, the Via Appia is the oldest and most important of the great roads built by the Ancient Romans.

Constructed and developed from 312 BCE to the 4th century CE, it was originally conceived as a strategic road for military conquest, advancing towards the East and Asia Minor.

The Via Appia later enabled the cities it connected to grow and new settlements emerged, facilitating agricultural production and trade.

This property, composed of 22 component parts, is a fully developed ensemble of engineering works, illustrating the advanced technical skill of Roman engineers in the construction of roads, civil engineering projects, infrastructure and sweeping land reclamation works, as well as a vast series of monumental structures including, for example, triumphal arches, baths, amphitheatres and basilicas, aqueducts, canals, bridges, and public fountains.
 

 
아피아 가도. 레지나 비아룸
길이가 800km가 넘는 비아 아피아[Via Appia, 아피아 가도街道]는 고대 로마인들이 건설한 도로 중 가장 오래되고 중요한 도로다.

기원전 312년부터 서기 4세기까지 건설·개발된 이 길은 원래는 동방과 소아시아로 진출하는 군사정복의 전략적 길로 구상됐다.

나중에 비아 아피아(Via Appia)는 연결된 도시의 성장을 가능하게 했고 새로운 정착지가 생겨나 농업 생산과 무역을 촉진했다.

22개 요소로 구성된 이 유산은 완전히 개발된 토목 작업 총체로서 도로 건설, 토목 공학 프로젝트, 기반 시설 및 대지 매립 작업과 광범위한 일련의 토지 개간 작업에서 로마 엔지니어의 고급 기술을 보여준다.

예를 들어 개선문, 목욕탕, 원형 극장 및 대성당, 수로, 운하, 다리 및 공공 분수를 포함한 기념비적 구조물들에서 그렇다. 
 

 
이번에 신규 등재된 목록 중에서는 가장 익숙한 존재다.

간단하다. 로마제국이 팽창하면서 그 본토에 건설한 고속도로 중 하나다. 

아피아 가도는 이미 이전에 소개했으니 그로써 갈음한다.
