Along with the National Museum of Gyeongju, the Gyeongju National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage holds a special exhibition of 'wearing horses and armor' at the Museum's special exhibition hall from the 12th to August 23rd.

In the exhibition will be featured complete suits of horse armor excavated from Makgapchong Tomb in Haman, Gyeongsangnam-do Province and the No. C10 Tomb at Jjoksaem district in Gyeongju, as well as pieces of horse armor found at locations such as Gyerimro Road, Gyeongju and 10 horse helmets. 

 

Since horse armor was first identified at Hwangnam-dong, Gyeongju in 1934, it have been excavated from all over the country, but rarely have been confirmed in its complete form. 

 

 

Armored Horse 

 

 

Then, a full form of horse armor was unearthed in Magakchong Tomb in 1992 and C10 Tomb in Gyeongju in 2009. 

 

As for the horse armor excavated from No. C10 Tomb at Jjoksaem district, reproductions are displayed along with the real thing.

The horse armor excavated from Hwangnam-dong No. 109 Tomb and Gyerim-ro No. 1 Tomb is the first to be released to the public.

Korea's first lacquered leather horse armor excavated from Gongsanseong Fortress in Gongju will be also displayed 

In addition, heavily armed military men in the Goguryeo tomb murals will be introduced as a video.
