The stork 'Gangneungi', which was discovered one after another in Korea and Japan and called a symbol of friendship between the two countries, was recently discovered dead in Japan.

According to Hyogo Prefectural Stork Hometown Park in Japan, on the 8th, white bones and an anklet, believed to belong to a stork, were found under a transmission tower in the forest near the Yamada substation in Yosano-cho.

The owner of the white bones was identified as Gangneungi through the serial number J0136 on the anklet.

After several months of death, a skull and some parts of the back and leg bones and some feathers were left behind, and the cause of death was unknown.

Judging that the bones are scattered around it, it is highly likely that it was eaten by a beast after dying here for any reason.

Gangneungi is a male stork born in Japan in May 2016 and released in July of the same year.

It had been missing for more than a year since then, and was observed in the estuary of Namdaecheon, Gangneung in December 2017.

Before the 2018 Winter Olympics, it was confirmed that local elementary school students gave the stork the name ``Susumu'' when the news that it came to Gangneung from Japan.

Local students also sent a thank-you letter to Gangneung City for the news that Susumu was found in Gangneung.

The stork, with two names, Gangneungi and Susumu, built a bridge of friendship for children from both countries.
