康津高麗靑瓷窯址發掘
(Seoul-Yonhap News) Park Sang-hyun = The ruins of the building, which is supposed to be the administrative office of Daeguso Office responsible for the production of celadon during the Goryeo dynasty, have been discovered in Gangjin, southwest part of the Korean peninsula.
Archaeologists said on 26th April that they discovered a building site, kiln, three waste disposal sites, roads and various celadone piecies at 109 Sadang-ri, Daegu-myeon, Gangjin-County.
The Sadang Kiln site was excavated eight times from 1964 to 1974 by the National Museum of Korea. The survey site is located at the No. 8 and No. 40 kiln site.
In particular, the building site is estimated to be the headquarter of the government building of Daeguso (대구소, 大口所) recorded in old documents during the Joseon Dynasty period, they said.
The eighth confirmed kiln in the Sadangri Kiln site revealed the burning chamber, the work area, and the space where the porcelains were placed.
Waste disposal site No. 1 and No. 2 are believed to have been used at a relatively earlier stage considering that many early celadon types are found.
From the Waste disposal site No. 3 made on top of waste site No. 2, not only earlier celadons but also later celadons have been unearthened.
An archaeologist said, "the waste disposal site No. 3 seems to have not been for a long time." "compared with the amount of celadon sculpture found in the entire survey, the amount of large vessels to hold small pottery is very small, and is very close to the administrative office building site. Therefore it is possible that this is a waste disposal site where celedon collected and managed by the government office."
