작년에 나가리한 2020 국제자연보존연맹 IUCN 세계보존회의 World Conservation Congress 2020 가 올해 11월 프랑스 마르세이유에서 열린다고. 말할 것도 없이 이는 COVID-19 pandemic에 의한 것이니, 2020 회의가 1년이 더 지나 2021년에 열린다는 것도 코미디다.
IUCN는 이런 사실을 공지하면서 애초 작년 6월 개최키로 했다가 연기한 2020 회의를 11월 3~11일 Marseille에서 개최키로 프랑스 정부와 합의했다고 전했으니, 이 무렵으로 잡은 이유는 아마도 백신접종확산에 따른 코로나 완화 국면을 염두에 둔 까닭이 아닌가 한다.
그러기 위해서는 백신이 제대로 접종되어야 하는데, 백신쇼티지 혼란에 빠진 이 사태가 언제쯤 제대로 작동할지 모르겠다.
