BIGBANG renews contract with YG ahead of new music release

SEOUL, March 11 (Yonhap) -- K-pop boy band BIGBANG has renewed its contract with the current agency, YG Entertainment, ahead of the band's new music release planned for this year, YG said Wednesday.

"The BIGBANG members, G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P and Daesung, signed an exclusive contract with YG," the management said in a press release.

This will mark BIGBANG' next term with YG after the band's debut under the music label in 2006.

the band was to appear together at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, in April in its first public activity in years.

But the annual spring music festival was put off to October amid coronavirus infection concerns.

韩联社首尔3月11日电 经纪公司YG娱乐11日表示，公司和BIGBANG成员G-DRAGON、太阳、T.O.P和大成续签了合同。

上述4名成员从练习生开始在YG旗下活动，2006年以组合BIGBANG出道，2011年和2015年与YG娱乐续签合同。YG娱乐表示，BIGBANG今年将准备回归歌坛，公司将为BIGBANG继续书写K-POP新篇章提供全力支持。（完）

당대 최정상 아이돌로 군림했지만 '대중 신뢰회복' 관건

빅뱅이 그래도 의리는 있나 보다. 버닝썬 게이트 충격에 휘청하는 YG와 계속 가기로 했으니 말이다. 근자 계약이 종료하는 여타 이 회사 소속 가수들을 보니, 야금야금 다른 데로 옮기는 일이 간취되는 듯하거니와, 그럼에도 빅뱅은 그 게이트에 정통으로 휘말려 나가 떨어진 승리를 제외한 넷이 한데 뭉쳐서 끝까지 YG와 간다니 말이다. 

이것이 순전히 김보성이 말하는 의리 인지는 모르겠지만, 그들이 가요계에서 지니는 무게, 위상 이런 것을 종체로 고려할 때 이는 재계약은 휘청대기만 하던 YG에도 막강한 버팀목이 될 수 있을 법하다. 다만, 남은 네 친구 중에서도 사고뭉치가 있으니, 모르겠다. 그런 사건들이 국내에서는 민감할 지 모르나 외국에서야 무에 큰 대수가 되겠냐는 생각도 해 본다.
