The tomb of King Mu (who reigned from 600 to 641), the 30th monarch of the Baekje Kingdom (18 BC~660) has opened its door in 100 years. Archaeologists have unearthed the tomb in Iksan, Jeollabukdo Province. The excavations revealed a flat rectangular stone chamber with a short corridor inside the mound 20 meters in diameter and 5 meters high. The chamber built of granite slabs, and hexagonal stones as corbels to support the ceiling is 3.78 meters long (from north to south), 1.76 meters wide (from east to west), 2.25 meters high (from bottom to ceiling).  At the center is a flat rectangular granite coffin standing on top of which pieces of a wooden coffin were found in excavations in 1917. The short corridor leading into the chamber was blocked with stone slabs. The size and style of the chamber are similar to those from tombs in Neungsan-ri in Buyeo, the capital of the late Baekje Kingdom.

Artifacts including the decomposed wooden coffins and pieces of pottery were retrieved and are now at The National Museum of Jeonju.
