Only the head remains intact. From the remains of the body, we can tell that the figurine is around 1 meter high. The 56cm long tongue extends from its mouth to below the waist; the right hand holds an axe and the left hand
holds a snake. This kind of figurines often found in cliff tombs of the Eastern Han Dynasty might be Fangxiangshi, an ancient exorcist used for the protection of tomb. Although the appearances are different, they share basic 5 features. The mask worn by Fangxiangshi is called Qitou, which is very horrific.

個仅剩头部, 从残破的身躯得知, 偏高约1米, 口中吐出的长舌甚至展下, 56厘米长, 它右平执奔, 左手握蛇, 此类倆在四川东汉墓中多有出土, 可能是我国古代用来象深奥的方相氏, 起镇衡作用, 其形象虽各有差异, 但基本特征相同, 方相氏所戴面又如头, 十分凶恶恐怖。

 

 

 

 

 

설명에 보이듯이 이것이 방상씨인가 아닌가는 실은 확정되지 아니했다. 생긴 모양새가 그렇다 해서 그렇게 추정한다. 

 

사천박물원 소장품으로 이 지역 동한東漢시대 문화에서 독특한 애묘崖墓라 해서 벼랑 암굴을 파서 시신을 묻는 무덤에서 주로 출토한다. 

 

최근 국립고궁박물관이 개막한 군사의례 특별전을 보면, 국립중앙박물관에서 대여한 방상씨 가면이 나왔다. 아래 이 가면과 비교해 보면 좋겠다.
