서울공예박물관 16일부터 공개…＂과거·현대 공예 한눈에＂

 

The Seoul Museum of Craft Art, built by the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the site of the former Pungmun Girls' High School in Anguk-dong, Jongno-gu, will welcome visitors from the 16th.

The museum was originally scheduled to open on the 15th, but in the aftermath of the the fourth surge of the coronavirus infection (COVID-19), it will start viewing by advance reservationon system on the 16th.

As Pungmun Girls' High School moved to Jagok-dong, Gangnam-gu in 2017, the Seoul City bought the land to remodel five existing school buildings, and built a new guide building and a hanok building. It has 12,826 square meters of land and a total floor area of 15,90 square meters. 

 

The museum is the only public cultural facility in Korea that specializes in crafts, and it is an open space where visitors can see all crafts at a glance from the past to the present.

The exhibition is decorated with various permanent and special exhibitions.

As permanent exhibitions, a textile craft display composed of the collection of Heo Dong-hwa, the late director of the Korea Embroidery Museum, and a section covering the entire history of crafts have been set up.

 

The special exhibition will feature sections that provide a glimpse of contemporary craftsmanship and a place that sheds light on the meaning of earrings to date.

The Seoul Craft Museum said it will showcase craft libraries, visible storage, crafts and music concerts as soon as the covid-19 situation improves.
