카라칼라 목용탕을 장식한 대리석 똥통

카라칼라CARACALLA 로마 대리석 변기통latrine이다.

마차를 모방한 장식이 있다.

만든 시점은 서기 2-3세기로 거슬러 올라간다.

로마 카라칼라 목욕탕 Baths of Caracalla에서 발견되었다.

이 목욕탕은 5세기에 로마의 7대 불가사의 중 하나로 간주되며 전성기를 보냈다.

이 목욕탕은 동시에 1천600명을 수용할 수 있었으며, 이를 통해 매일 6천∼8천 명이 목욕탕을 이용한 것으로 추산된다.

저 똥통은 British Museum이 소장한다.

2026. 8. 26 현재 저를 소개하는 브리티시 뮤지엄 소개는 다음과 같다. 

아래를 보면 박물관이 이를 획득한 시점이 1805년이다. 우리한테는 조선 순조 연간이다! 

박물관이 무엇인 줄도 모를 시절이다.
