Having the history of more than 120 year tradition, and designated as No, 144 cultural asset by Chungcheongnam-do, the church is also a very important sacred place with many martyrs. It is famous for its superb scenery, which is made up of hundreds of years old trees and the Cathedral architectures. Thanks to these beauties, Gongseri Catholic Church is often used as a film or drama filming location. 

The church was founded in 1894, and in 1897 a priest's office was built, and in 1922 the modern Gothic cathedral was completed. Surrounded by centuries-old trees, it is a sacred place of Catholicism with a beautiful surrounding landscape.
