A short brief of The Kizilgarha beacon tower
The Kizilgarha beacon tower is located 12 kilometers northwest of Kuqa county seat and only 1,000 meters away from the Kizilgarha Thousand Buddha caves. It is a military alarm facility during the Han Dynasty.
Fire was lighted at night white smoke was set off in daytime. The plans of beacon towers is in rectangulars shape. Tapering down to a trapezoid going up from the foundation, with heigth of about 13.5 meters in rammed-earth structure.
TheLength is about 6.5 meters and the width is about 4.5 meters. A watch-tower sits on its top, with wooden fences extant.
It is the earliest remains of best-preserved beacon tower on the midroute of the ancient silk Road at present. On June 25th 2001.
The state council announced the baccon tower as monuments under the state protection.
It is a symbol military alarm facility during the Han Dynasty.
*** There is a vacilation in the English notation of this Becon tower between Kizilgarha and Kizilgaha. I don't know which one is closer to local pronunciation.
克孜尔尕哈烽隧遗址简介
克孜尔尕哈烽燧,位于库车县西北12公里处,距克孜尔杂哈石窟寺仅千米之遥。始建于汉宣帝年间,即西域都护府移设乌垒之后。夜里点火为怪,白天放烟为憾。烽燧平面呈长方形,由基底向上逐渐缩收,呈梯形,高约13.5米, 基底现存长6.5米,宽4.5米,夯土结构, 顶部望楼、木柵残迹尚存。它是目前古丝绸之路中道上时代最早、保存最完好的烽隧遗址。国务院2001年6月25日公布为全国重点文物保护单位。是汉唐丝绸之路上标志性的古代军事通讯建筑设施,现已成为丝路考古旅游的必选之地。
