Nov. 26 ( Seoul = Yonhapnews) -- The establishment of the National Museum of World Writings ( temporary name ), which will collect, display and study the world's character materials, has been in full swing.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will start the groundbreaking ceremony at the construction site of the Museum at Songdo Park (Central Park), Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon on the 27th.

More than 300 people will attend the event, including Minister of MCST Park Yang-woo, Mayor Park Nam-chun, the Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, and other local government officials, local lawmakers, and local residents and project implementers. 

The Museum, built to contribute to the preservation and spread of the diversity of human characters, is built on a site of 19,418 square meters with a total floor area of ​​15,650 square meters on the first floor under ground and two floors above ground.

The museum is not only an international platform for language research, but also the building itself is expected to attract attention from around the world as a new landmark.

Designed with band-shaped curved walls that flow inside and outside the building, it is shaped like a traditional scroll.

The exterior blends well with the greenery, and the interior space is flexibly designed to respond to various forms of exhibition. It is used as a complex cultural space with various facilities such as permanent exhibition room, special exhibition room, children's museum, storage, library, multipurpose auditorium and cafeteria.

Minister Park Yang-woo said, "The National Museum of World Writings will be a place where we can reflect on the meaning and value of cultural diversity and cultural creativity in the era of internationalization."
