문방도 4폭 병풍
19세기 후반 ~ 20세기 초

전체 모양은 요런데 조선후기 근대 초기 비교적 자주 보는 책가도 소재 병풍으로 지금 국립고궁박물관에 걸려 있다.

이런 양태가 현실의 반영이라 생각해서는 매우 곤란하다.

이렇게 꾸며놓고 사는 사람이 없지는 않겠지만 이상향이라 그때라고 북카페 열망이 없었겠는가?

북카페 얘기 나온 김에 이런 카페가 외국서는 사정이 어떤지 모르겠지만 우리가 유난히 이 모티브에 혹닉하는 심성이 나는 우연은 아니라고 본다.

곧 근자의 북카페는 책가도의 부활이라는 측면도 있다고 본다.

세부로 살피면 연필통을 비롯한 그릇이 모조리 중국 수입산이며 또 저 정도 책은 인쇄본이라 저만한 책을 갖출 사람은 저 시대 왕실을 비롯해 몇 집 되지도 않는다.

이 또한 다른 책가도 문방도랑 마찬가지로 똥폼 잡기용이다. 그래서 이상향 아니겠는가?

설명은 이렇다.

서책과 문방구류를 비롯하여 도자기, 골동품 등의 진귀한 물건과 여러 화초를 그린 4폭 병풍이다. 다른 문방도 병풍들과 달리 걷어 올린 휘장 안에 물건이 가득찬 모습으로 그려져 마치 휘장 안쪽에 입체적인 공간이 존재하는 듯한 착시 효과를 일으킨다.
 
휘장 안 기물들은 화려한 채색으로 정교하게 묘사해 이러한 그림의 구성 방식과 더불어 장식적인 효과를 높인다.
 
경사스러운 의미를 갖는 소재가 다양하게 등장할 뿐만 아니라 휘장에도 장수를 기원하는 의미의 壽자가 동그란 문양으로 그려졌다.

좋은 의미와 함께 궁중 실내 공간을 장식한 병풍으로 궁중장식화의 높은 품격과 화려한 기법을 엿볼 수 있는 유물이다.
