경주 태종무열왕릉비 / 慶州太宗武烈王陵碑

국보 제25호 / 받침돌 길이 330cm, 너비 249cm, 높이 83cm, 머릿돌 높이 110cm

신라 태종무열왕(재위 654~661)의 위대한 업적을 기리기고자 그의 무덤 앞쪽 좌측에 세웠다. 비 몸돌은 없어지고 거북 모양 받침돌과 용을 새긴 머릿돌만 남았다. 받침돌에 조각된 돌 거북은 목을 높이 쳐들고 발을 기운차게 뻗으며 나아가는 모습을 표현했다. 머릿돌 좌우에는 여섯 마리 용이 서로 세 마리씩 엉켜 여의주를 문 모습을 조각했다. 앞면 중앙에는 무열왕 둘째아들 김인문이 썼을 것으로 추정되는 ‘태종무열대왕지비’라는 글을 돋을새김해 비 주인공을 알려준다. 

<tortoise and capstone> 

The tombstone was erected to commemorate King Taejong Muyeol (r. 654~661 AD) of the Silla kingdom. It stands on the front left of his tomb with its tortoise-shaped pedestal and capstone carved with dragons remaing, whereas its tablet or body on which his great achievements were written in chinese is missing. 

The remaining monement is 3.3 meters long, 0. 88 meter high, and 2. 49 meters wide. The sculptured tortoise is in a position of moving ahead. 

On the surface of the capstone are carved in bold relief six dragons entangled, and on the flat surface among the six dragons are inscribed "the Stele for Tomb of King Taejong Muyeol" in bold relief, maybe by Kim In-mun, the king's second son.

慶州太宗武烈王陵碑

国宝第25号

この碑石は新羅時代の第29代太宗武烈王(在位 654~661)の業績を讃えるために建てられたものである. 碑石は武烈王陵左側に位置しており、現在碑身は破損して亀形の亀趺と竜が彫られた螭首だけが残っている. 碑石の長さは330cm、幅249cm、高さ88cmであり、彫刻の亀は力强い前向ぎの姿をしていて, 新羅人の進取の気性があらわれている。
