정읍 무성리 삼층석탑(武城里三層石塔, Three-story Stone Pagoda in Museong-ri)

정읍 무성서원에서 대략 오백미터 지점에 무성리 삼층석탑이 있고, 

그 인근 저 평이한 가정집이 미륵사라는 간판을 내건 절이라 그 안에 미륵불이 있다. 

석불은 외부로 노출되지 않는 까닭에 지나치기 쉽다. 

설명문은 이렇다.

이 탑은 인근의 무성리 석불입상과 함께 미륵사에 전해지는 것으로, 현재는 절 앞 논 위에 높게 돌을 쌓아 터를 마련하고 그 위에 탑을 세워 놓았다. 원 위치에서 이곳으로 옮겨 세웠기 때문에 제작 당시의 모습은 알 수 없지만, 1층 탑몸에 비해 2, 3층은 그 규모와 높이가 작다. 지붕돌(옥개석)은 완만하게 수평으로 처리되었으며, 그 폭이 두텁지 않아 경쾌한 모습을 보여준다. 탑의 꼭대기 장식부분이 일부 남아 있으나, 이는 훗날 보완한 것이다. 이 탑은 제작기법으로 보아 고려시대 작품으로 추정된다. 

This pagoda, together with the standing stone Buddha statue, is said to have been built at Mireuk temple. The pagoda was erected on a foundation of piled stones on a rice paddy in front of the temple. The original shape was changed when the pagoda was moved to its present location. The second and third stories are small in scale as opposed to the body of the first story. The roofstone is sloped gently, and its width indicates a light shape, Some of the original decorations at the top remain, but they were repaired later. From its technique, scholars assume it was built during the Goryeo dynasty.  

이 석불이 앞선 설명문에서 말한 미륵사에 안치한 것으로, 아마도 고려시대 유물로 보는 듯하다.
