Usate dalle società Yaka per la danza che sancisce la fine dell iniziazione giovanile maschile, queste maschere sono costituite da un volto scolpito in legno, sormontato da una struttura conica in fibra vegetale, rivestita di tessuto di rafia e quindi dipinta. La fitta frangia di rafia aveva lo scopo di

1. Maschera del tipo ndeemba dalla caratteristica struttura conica con due dischi e una sorta di orecchie.

2. Maschera del tipo khaluka caratterizzata dalla presenza di scene di vita quotidiana o di figurine mitiche. Nella scena un coccodrillo - raffigurato con le sembianze di un varano - azzanna un piede di una giovane donna. Il khaluka è la più popolare tra le maschere Yaka; danza da sola alla fine dello spettacolo che chiude il tempo dell'iniziazione.

Used by Yaka societies for the dance that marks the end of male youth initiation, these masks consist of a face carved in wood, surmounted by a conical structure in vegetable fibre, covered in raffia fabric and then painted. The thick raffia fringe was intended to hide the appearance of the person who wore it

2. Khaluka-type mask characterized by the presence of scenes of daily life or mythical figurines. In the scene a crocodile - depicted with the appearance of a monitor lizard - bites the foot of a young woman. The khaluka is the most popular of the Yaka masks; she dances alone at the end of the show which closes the initiation time.
