거시기를 닮은 거북대가리 귀두龜頭

경주 신라 태종무열왕릉 귀부

거북 대가리를 한자로는 귀수龜首 혹은 귀두龜頭라 한다. 불알에 근원을 두고 막대기처럼 불뚝 솟아오르거나 축 처진 방망이 역시 요즘도 귀두라 부른다.

농담일 거 같은가? 보라! 거북대가리나 거시기 대가리나 같지 아니한가?

龜何龜何
首其現也라
若不現也면
燔灼而喫也라

거북이가 대가리를 내어놓아라는 거시기를 세우란 뜻이다. 따라서 구지가龜旨歌는 발기가發紀歌다.

Turtles are underwater creatures that hold their heads in and out. In East Asian cultures, these characteristics of turtles have been often understood in conjunction with the erection of the penis.
It used to be understood as the so-called piston motion.

 

The turtle's head is strangely resembling a man's penis. The head of a turtle is also called Guidu 龜頭 in Korea, which actually refers to a male genital organ.
